Ellen Meeropol is fascinated by characters on the fault lines of political upheaval, so in September 2005 she left her nurse practitioner career to spend more time with them. She works part-time in an independent bookstore and teaches fiction writing workshops. Her first novel, House Arrest, is forthcoming from Red Hen in early 2011.
